Blount Mansion Centennial Anniversary: The Road to Knoxville

Thursday, October 15, 2026 • 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Historian and author Jack Neely will speak on "The Road to Knoxville," the city in the 1790s and its connections to the Revolutionary War. Perhaps to a degree unusual even in America, the first Knoxvillians came from a surprisingly wide variety of backgrounds, in terms of cultural heritage, home state or country, religious faith, experience, age, race, educational attainment and accent. The lecture will discuss the individuals' reasons for congregating here and creating a city and a state.

A $10 donation is suggested at the door; cash and cards accepted. RSVP to [email protected].
