Beck-Met Gala
In honor of its 50th anniversary celebration, Beck Cultural Exchange Center will hold the Beck-Met Gala. The event will emulate the iconic Met Gala, a charity affair that dates back to 1948 and supports the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The Met Gala traditionally takes place on the first Monday of May, coinciding with the unveiling of the museum’s annual blockbuster exhibition. This year, the Met Gala theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” inspired by the thought-provoking book “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.”
The Knoxville event will align with the theme with the “Beck-Met Gala” with paparazzi photographers, watch party, music, heavy hors d’oeuvres and entertainment. Guests will enjoy an opportunity to join the host on stage for a segment called “Tell Me About Your Look,” and attendees can watch runway fashions presented by 25 Black male models showcasing styles from the early 19th century to futuristic designs. Tickets are available HERE.
