The Clarence Brown Theatre debuts the 2016-17 season with “Violet,” a play filled with bluegrass, folk and gospel. The title character, scarred in a farm accident, takes a bus to Tulsa — via Johnson City, Kingsport, Knoxville, Nashville and Memphis — to be healed by an evangelical preacher, only to learn the real meaning of love, courage, and beauty along the way.
