A native of Kansas City, Kansas, alto saxophonist Bobby Watson came to prominence in the late 1970s as musical director of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. Widely recognized as one of the great composers of his generation, Watson brings terrific music for big band, including excerpts from his “Gates Barbeque Suite.”
