Forced by her brother into an arranged marriage to save the family from financial and political ruin, Lucia murders her husband on their wedding night. Donizetti’s Gothic masterpiece, based on Sir Water Scott’s “The Bride of Lammermoor,” is filled with thrilling vocal fireworks.
