A special memorial tribute will honor the life and legacy of esteemed poet and cultural icon Nikki Giovanni at Mount Zion Baptist Church, where Rev. Dr. Johnnie Skinner Sr. serves as pastor. Giovanni, renowned for her profound impact on literature and the arts, inspired countless individuals. The memorial will feature heartfelt words of commemoration from Rev. Reneé Kesler, president of the Beck Cultural Exchange Center. Rev. Dr. Harold Middlebrook will preside over the event. The Foster Chapel Baptist Church choir will uplift attendees with music, alongside special selections from Brian Clay and performances by former City of Knoxville poet laureate Rhea Carmon and various officials and dignitaries.
