United Way of Greater Knoxville’s Young Leaders’ Society is converting its annual Great Conversation event into a virtual event series – ‘An Uncomfortable but Necessary Series.” The first event, “The History and Current Climate of Racism in Knoxville,” will explore racial inequity in Knoxville and ways to facilitate change and justice as individuals. LaKenya Middlebrook, a lawyer and leader of the city’s Police Advisory and Review Committee (PARC), and Phyllis Y. Nichols, president and CEO of the Knoxville Area Urban League will be the speakers.
