Volunteer PRSA – Don’t Be An Accidental Drug Dealer: An Award-Winning Campaign
Jennifer Brantley and Angela Argiro, both from MP&F Strategic Communications, will discuss their work on an award-winning public education campaign, “Don’t Be An Accidental Drug Dealer.” Tennesseans were encouraged to help fight the opioid epidemic by counting, locking up and dropping off unneeded or old prescriptions. In one year, awareness of the program increased by 110 percent with more than 105,000 pounds of pills collected at take-back events and permanent drop boxes statewide. The number of people who took unused opioids to a drop box increased by 43 percent. The campaign has won more than 15 awards since launch, including 2018 Best of Silver Anvil and Global SABRE Award, and was named one of the 40 best PR campaigns in the world for 2018.
