Friends of Literacy will honor five of East Tennessee's best writers at the 12th Annual East Tennessee Writers Hall of Fame. This 2015 inductees are: Georgiana Vines, a journalist with more than 40 years of experience, Lifetime Achievement; Amy Greene, recipient of the Willie Morris Award for Southern Fiction, in the fiction category; Vince Staten, author of 13 books, nonfiction; Jesse Graves, award-winning Appalachian poet, poetry; and Alan Sims, known as the Knoxville Urban Guy, social media.

The annual Red Shoe Gala, now in its fourth year, features food, signature cocktails, silent auction, "Field of Poppies" mystery wine table and live music by Pop Rox. All proceeds benefit CASA of East Tennessee’s mission to advocate for abused and neglected children by helping them find loving, permanent homes.

The East Tennessee Technology Access Center (ETTAC) will hold its 5th annual "A Night in Old Havana" fundraiser to benefit the organization, which assists those with disabilities. Tickets include a dance showcase by Dance Tonight dance studio, authentic Cuban dinner, poker, silent auction and cigar and high spirits bar.

The ninth annual Top Chefs, presented by Cityview, features 10 executive chefs from the Knoxville community competing to be named the 2016 Top Chef. Guests sample one entree and dessert from each chef, then rate the dishes on their ballot. The event also offers complimentary wine tastings, live jazz and silent auction. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee.

The sixth annual "Evening with the Legends" features former Vols football coach Phillip Fulmer and other University of Tennessee sports legends, including Eddie Brown, Anthony Edwards, Rocky Goode, Sterling Henton, Tim Irwin, Joey Kent, Steve Kiner, Larry Seivers, Mike Stratton and Dewey Warren. The event, a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Tennessee, offers heavy hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine, live music and silent and live auctions.

"Shining Light on Darkness" is a fall breakfast held by the Renew Clinic, which supports holistic restoration of individuals affected by substance abuse in a Christ-centered recovery community.
