Unexpected Treasures: An Evening with Lark Mason at McClung Museum will offer an elegant and educational evening with Mason, an art expert, frequent guest on Antiques Roadshow and University of Tennessee graduate. Mason will present, “Unexpected Treasures and How to Find Them: Why Great Works of Art Turn Up in Odd Locations,” which will be followed by farm-to-table dinner stations throughout the galleries, dessert displays, craft cocktails and music by the Empty Bottle String Band.

The McClung Museum will host a bus tour, “Forgotten Memorials: Designed for Remembrance, Relegated to Obscurity,” highlighting Knoxville’s neglected Civil War cemeteries and memorials. Dr. Joan Markel, Civil War curator, also will discuss the effect of the Civil War on the local population from 1861-1865. The McClung Museum will host a "Gilded Age Cocktail Party" with period-themed cocktails, appetizers and mini-tours of the special exhibition, "Fish Forks and Fine Furnishings: Consumer Culture in the Gilded Age." All proceeds benefit the museum's educational programming.

The season opening celebration for the Clarence Brown Theatre will be held prior to the 7:30 p.m. performance of "Peter and the Starcatcher” for members of The CBT Society and guests.

A Members' Opening Reception will be held the new exhibition, "For All the World to See: Visual Culture and the Struggle for Civil Rights." The nationally touring exhibition from NEH on the Road, uses photographs, television clips, art posters and historic artifacts to trace how images and media disseminated to the American public transformed the modern civil rights movement.
